For you to consider is a fabulous pair of hand crafted mid-20th century Japanese woven rattan decorative stacking boxes with a pagoda inspired silhouette. Crafted of finely woven rattan over solid wood, the sides of the boxes flair up and out, dramatically rolling inward at the crest, each being covered with a matching lid decorated with a wood button finial. When the lid of the larger box is inverted and reset into the opening, this creates the perfect base to inset and stack the smaller box on top. This is a large and substantial pair with the base of the large box measuring 11.25" square that flares to 16" square at the widest point, and stands 11" in height. The smaller box measures 6.5" square at the base flaring to 9" square at the widest point, and stands 7.5" in height. The total height if the boxes are stacked is 14.5". Obviously well cared for, they are in beautiful condition for their age with no cracks or punctures, prior repairs, or other compromising imperfections found. Wear is appropriate for age and history of use, so please review the photos as they are a descriptive part of the listing. A unique and striking set unlike any other that definitealy makes a statement either stacked as one or displayed separately.
